HARRY POTTER

I
was reading your page on how harry Potter isn't whatGod wants us to
read, and I say, its very good.
Althought there was onething that did come out to me as not exactly
Christian like... u stated. "One was authored by one of
the greatest, most respected Christian writers and thinkers of the
twentieth century; the other was written by a former teacher,
divorced and living on welfare. " Do you think that God
does not live in the hearts of those who have
struggled in life? By this sentences you're judging her by the life
she lives! Does God not tell us to judge others?
"One is an allegory portraying many truths and lessons of the
Bible without magic; the other is a full indoctrination into the
ways of Wicca, Satanism and the occult." I know many
people who can translate Harry Potter as lessons found in the bible
or as Witch and the Wardrobe from C.S. Lewis. Stories and parables
can be written in all forms, it just depends on who it's going to.
Do you think a person from America will understand a Chineese sports
game? Wouldn't they better understand if they were shown a
simularity between rules and goals? "One attempts to
inspire its readers with the values of the Christian faith and
Christian moral character, the other leads its readers see
witchcraft, magic and sorcery as harmless and easily within
grasp." See, its judging again. You are telling Us what
and what is not Their will to achieve. If you want to state these
things, you are better off quoting them. Until then you are judging
and God does not ask us of that. Thank for your time

Also,which
i forgot to add. Who gives you the right to tell people they will
burn in hell for reading Harry Potter? Your Judging and acting as if
you have the Place of God when you make that statement. Also To say
that Harry Potter's desination is Hell is turningmay people away
form your site who may like Harry Potter. It's not good business to
insult those people who you are trying to spread the word to. My
suggestion is, fixup the website nget ur facts straight from her
mouth, not what you think of her. "I made a very
conscious decision right at the beginning that I was writing
about someone evil, and I wasn't going to tell a lie. I wasn't going
to pretend that an evil person is a paper cutout and no one really
gets hurt. OK, if you're writing about evil, I think generally
you have a responsibility to show what that means, and that's the
way I'm writing them. I think they're quite, well actually, I
think they're very moral books,"
Rowlings told a television news program. If writing these
books are her parables for telling her views on life, religion or
God,then thats her place. When was the last time an informtation
book about Wicca was banned from the stores because young people
could read it, or follow the practice? Thanks again for your
time. CMM 05/14/2003

Thank you for
your words of truth. I appreciate you taking a
straight shot at what I continue to hear is "no
big deal". I wouldn't let my children eat
out of the garbage can, nor let them fill their minds
with garbage. Please continue to send me your
newsletter. RC 11/12/2001
Thanks for
sending the info to me. The info is important
to all of us. As grandparents we can inform and
encourage. LF 11/04/2001
I would be
delighted to receive any and all information that
will help our children. I work with high school
age children, yes I said high school aged children
and their parents. Thank you for caring about
our youth. PBS 11/02/2001
I think your
article is very enlightening and well backed up with
Scripture. My big question is the Grimm's Fairy
Tales that I grew up with and all the witchcraft and
sorcery in them, to speak nothing of the Disney
versions of many of them which gave us pictures along
with the words. Nobody seems to speak up
against them and I don't think they are very popular
anymore, but there are so many terrible things for
kids to see - cartoons, video games, movies - that I
think are very damaging, too. My grandkids (youngest
is 13) have a good Christian background, although the
15 year old seems to be into "dark" things
somewhat. The older kids are strong in their
faith and I thank God every day for them... My other
concern is my pastor who I love dearly and who has
been through many difficult times. He has read
the series, at least some of it, and thinks it's OK.
I've approached him a few times and he let me know in
a nice way that he didn't want to hear about "Harry
Potter" anymore. Any suggestions??? JP 11/02/2001
Thanks for
exposing the dangers of reading and not taking
seriously what is written in the Harry Potter books.
Our son, who is in the 3rd grade, has a teacher who
is reading the books to his class. We wrote to
her and expressed our opposition to having our son
listen to them and asked if he could be excused from
the class. She called us and gave us her
opinions. She said she "considered herself
to be a Christian" which was the first warning
flag that went up in my mind. If someone asked
me my religious beliefs, I would say a definite
"I am a Christian", not, "I consider
myself to be a Christian". Anyway, she
said that the books were purely fiction and she
didn't emphasize anything spiritual in the book, but
instead talked with them about truth verses fantasy.
She said it was no different than watching Disney
movies, such as Beauty and the Beast. She said
she was purely using the books to analyze sentence
structures and other educational purposes.
Well, we still weren't convinced and are standing
firm on our conviction to not expose him to the
occult implications in the books. Most
importantly, WE are responsible for his Spiritual
upbringing and don't want to jeopardize anything that
could sway him from the Truth! JSO 11/01/2001
Since
you do continue to beat on the anti-Harry Potter drum
though I do wish to ask you one question: Have
you read the books yet? You really should
before continuing to accuse the author of the
terrible things you are claiming. DG 10/31/2001
I am
passing your website on to everyone I can think of
.... it is really Au(some)!! Thanks for taking
up the education of American parents on how their
kids are being seduced. You are truly an
inspiration to all of us - GOD bless you! TE 10/31/2001
I
concur with you regarding "Harry Potter".
I have also had people disagree with my objection's
to the HP series. When you finish your
essay on this topic, I'd be interested in reading it. RE 10/26/2001
Thank
you for your thoughtful reply. I have enjoyed
the [Harry Potter] books very much. They are
very English, and as such pretty ordinary in their
approached to things magical. Many legends in
many countries have magical elements. For me
the surroundings in the story are not near as
important as the clarity with which the author draws
the difference between good and evil things.
They are primarily about the encounters with
these things that kids run into as they enter school
and face peer pressure to do things that are cruel,
or immoral, and the wondrous goodness that comes
from not giving into those temptations. Frank
Perretti writes books with the same kind of
power for kids as does Madeleine Le Engle, CS Lewis,
Tolkein, likewise. So I will be very interested
in your next letter on the subject. MH 09/05/2001
I
congratulate you on taking this initiative. JC 08/31/2001
