War of the Bumper Stickers
|
|
|
Pro-Choice (pro-abortion)
and Pro-Life (anti-abortion) bumper stickers, posters
and billboards have proliferated across North America.
Here, we challenge
the logic and ethics of the Pro-Choice ones (also, see the Pro-Life
ones).
The sign reads
|
What it really means
|
| A Child is a
Choice |
Every child
has some chance of surviving my pregnancy. Some
get born, some are killed at my discretion. I am
in control of my body and the destinies of those
who by some fluke of nature end up inside my body
during pregnancy. When they're inside my body,
they're a fleeting mass of tissue and I forget
about them as quickly once I've terminated them.
They somehow become human at the instant of birth
(amazing! only science knows how).
The truth is, every child is a life,
and every life is a gift from God made in the
image of God every life! Each and every
life has equal worth in the eyes of its Creator.
God does not ever punish people with pregnancy.
He gives mothers and parents a gift called "children".
They are a gift regardless of the circumstances
that brought about the pregnancy. Fetuses in the
womb have practically all the characteristics of
a living child. That doesn't sound very much like
a blob of tissue or something that miraculously
becomes a person at birth it is a person!
|
| Every Child
a Wanted Child |
Every child
is a wanted child, unless of course I get
pregnant at a bad time, or it's inconvenient for
what's going on in my life, or I'm being
pressured by my spouse/partner, in which case
it's not a wanted child.
Every wanted child a birthed child,
every unwanted child a dead child! That is the
story of the statistics of abortion. The truth
is, every child is wanted by someone, even those
that are unwanted by their birth mother or
parents. That includes children who, prior to
birth, are discovered or thought to be deformed
while still in the womb. There are literally
millions of parents who desire to adopt these
"unwanted" children. Mothers who abort
often end up the only ones who mourn the death of
their aborted child around the time he or she
would have been born. Their children are sure
wanted then, but it's too late.
|
| Pro-Child,
Pro-Choice |
It's a good
day if we're not bugged by our children, then
we're pro-child. When it's a bad day, then we're
pro-choice, and you better watch out!
Pro-choice means pro-abortion. Pro-abortion
does not mean pro-child, it means "I'm
willing to get rid of you if you inconvenience me
or my lifestyle in any way". It means,
"I'm pro-choice until something gets the
better of me and I decide to let one of these
critters through the gate. Then after that, I'm
pro-child". Or it means, "You are very
lucky indeed to be born to a pro-choice mother".
Sounds more like they're very confused.
|
| Against
Abortion? Don't Have One |
We don't
want you to impose your beliefs about killing
innocent, helpless children on us. Of course, we
are perfectly willing to impose our beliefs on
you and take you to court and sue you for
millions to prove our point.
No society can stand in which some
people believe it's alright to kill other people
without due cause, while others are desperately
trying to defend those likely to be victims of
the ones who are perfectly willing to murder.
It's like saying, "Well, okay, all you
people on this side of the country, you can abuse
and kill and murder all you like, you have the
full protection of the law (just don't make a big
deal about it). And you folks on this side, well,
good luck!" That is a society destined to
fall hard.
|
| Keep Your
Laws Off My Body |
Don't even
try to think up any new laws to take away the
protection I now enjoy to terminate at will any
life growing inside my body. I will do with my
body whatever I want. It's my right. The law says
so. And that is the only law I'm willing to have
control my body.
Strange how we have these laws, like
ones against murder, battery, assault, abuse and
ones generally against harming others, laws which
govern the use and control of one's own body,
even ones that would make us think twice about
doing something stupid (like driving drunk) and
ones that would temper what we say in private! (Why
aren't pro-choice advocates complaining about
these restrictive body control laws as well?) If
I can't murder someone outside of my body without
facing severe punishment, what makes the growing
child with a beating heart and measurable brain
waves in my body unable to receive this same
legal protection from undue harm? Strange thing.
It looks like child abuse doesn't actually rate
that high in our society after all. This is the
ultimate child abuse.

| I'm Pro-Choice
and I Vote |
I and all
the rational, pro-choice intelligentsia in this
country are in control. "Liberty and justice
for all" applies only to those in power, and
we're the ones in power now. We have the law and
the whole justice system on our side. Don't mess
with the system (especially in Canada), or we'll
batter you with it until you bleed money.
I'm pro-life and I vote. Does that
count for anything in our system of democracy?
Does it matter that the majority of citizens on
this continent are pro-life (in truth), and at
the mercy of the elite who managed to wrestle
government, media and science into their control?
It sounds like "Might makes right" is
the dictum of the day. Weren't we trying to teach
kids in school otherwise? This pro-choice message
will not fly well on the day of reckoning with
the Almighty.

| Keep
Abortion Legal |
Don't
inconvenience me anymore keep things
the way they are. I'm tired of trips to
Washington, D.C. I'm tired of sweating in the sun
with my signs and pamphlets. I'm tired of being
pelted by the logic, arguments and passion of the
anti-abortionists and pro-lifers. I'm tired of
constantly having to convince myself and others
that I'm right and somehow they're wrong. At
least I'm not alone in this.
Intentionally doing what is wrong
against all logic, against all reasonable
arguments and against one's own God-given
conscience leads to a severe hardening of the
heart, and can lead to emotional and even
physical breakdown as well. Is it worth this cost
to be "right" when in fact it's far
from reasonable? Following the crowd or the
pressure of one's parents or peers does not make
it better. What conscience dictates even if it
is covered up and buried in federal law and
public policy God will demand
accountability and restitution for.
